Onion Tags

Verified

[VERIFIED] | {{Verified}}

  • Verified tags indicate that a site owner has agreed to pay the UHW a bond to initiate the process of verifying their site and have their site listed near the top. This does not mean the site is not a scam. If the site is found to be legitimate through our own investigation, the bond will be returned at 50% and the site owner will have their wiki account promoted to protect their link in the future. The important distinction to consider between [VERIFIED] and [Protected Link] in that a verified site does not mean the site itself is legitimate, but that it has not reached consensus one way or another. For details of having your onion protected, see Promoted Links. Sites in the Financial Services and Commercial Services will not be verified.
  • When adding verified tags, '''bolding''' should be used over the entire link, and <protect> tags should be used to protect the link from editing. If <protect> tags are not used, then the link is not verified and the {{Verified}} tag should be removed by all users.
Usage: * <protect> '''[http://averifiedsitelink.onion.sale/ A Verified Onion]''' - Neutral Description of Onion {{Verified}} </protect>

Protected Link

[Protected Link] | {{Protected Link}}

  • Protected tags should be used for high traffic links that have addresses which are protected from editing. This ensures that the link cannot be changed or modified to a phishing site. This tag should be used for high traffic and trusted sites with a large user base, such as Agora or the former Silk Road. This will verify that the address is correct, the site is large and trusted, and not a phishing link. Only Administrators and Moderators may add Protected tags. Only Administrators can place Protected Link tags. When adding Protected Link tags, '''bolding''' should be used over the entire link, and < protect> tags should be used to protect the link from editing.
Usage: * <protect> '''[http://protectedlink.onion.sale/ A Protected Onion]''' - Neutral Description of Onion {{Protected Link}} </protect>

Down

[▼ DOWN 2015-07-30 Site Closed ] | {{Down}}

  • For marking websites and onions as down. This can be added by any user. Sites that continue to be down after a period of time should be moved to the Dead Hidden Services section of the topic page.
Usage: {{Down|date|reason}} after the non-functional link.

Up

[▲ UP 2015-07-30 ] | {{Up}}

  • For marking websites and onions as up. This is automatically done by a bot.
Usage: {{Up|date}} after the functional link.

Scam

[Likely SCAM] | {{Scam}}

  • For marking websites and onions as scams. Only Administrators and Moderators may add Scam tags, and they can only add the tag when there is much proof that the site is well-known as a scam. The absence of this tag does not indicated that the onion site is not a scam, only that it has not been proven. Administrators and Moderators must include proof using <ref>[proof URL]</ref> reference links.
Usage: {{Scam}} <ref>proof URL</ref> after the scam link.

New

[New Site added 2015-07-30] | {{New}}

  • For marking websites and onions as new. All new entries should include this if the onion has been just launched. When adding an onion link, always include this tag. The tag can be removed after 30 days.
Usage: {{New|date}} <ref>proof URL</ref> after the new link.
